All of our foundation work involves the following stages
Step #1
The existing driveway is to be dug down to the original sub-base providing this depth is appropriate, otherwise this will taken down to approximately 250mm, where necessary Also to raise the levels by installing new flat-top edging kerbs.
Step #2
A breathable plantex membrane, with cross-hatched fibres, is laid. this provides an effective solution to the problem of constructing a stable granular layer, over soft foundation soils. When stone is placed directly on a soft sub-grade. The imposed load often causes intermixing of two layers. This results in contamination of the stone layer, and a resulting loss in bearing strength, surface rutting and deformation at the sub-base/subgrade interface.
Step #3
A layer, of course boulder aggregate, is laid which stabilises the ground to prepared areas.
Step #4
A finer (type1) grade aggregate, is laid to further stabilises, and smoothens the base.
Step #5
A river-washed sharp sand is laid and screeded to correct levels, ensuring any surface water is directed to correct areas.
Step #6
A 50ml Marshalls driveline paving block is laid to prepared area, customers choice of colour pattern & design.
